Downtown Raleigh Fun!

We spent the day in downtown Raleigh today taking the kids to some of the museums and State Capitol building. It's great fun and best of all they are all FREE!! We started at the Museum of History... North Carolina Pottery
Doesn't everyone serve punch at their parties in one of these???
They have a neat replica of a 1920's Drug Store/Soda Shop. We were all commenting on how it reminded us of the one at the beginning of It's a Wonderful Life!
Next, it was on to the State Capital...

These pictures are a little dark but you can see where the House of Representatives and Senate met until the year 1961.
They have also a neat replica of an 1800's library.
Then it was off to the Museum of Natural Sciences, in my opinion this is one of the best museums and I still can't believe they don't charge any admission. It has 4 floors of fun! Emily in a dinosaur footprint.
We made a quick stroll through the butterfly house.
They have a really neat Historical Artifacts room where you can handle preserved animals (yes they were once real)! At first the kids weren't to sure about handling them but then they thought it was really cool!
