"Camp-In"

The kids have been begging us for the past few weeks to camp out in the backyard, but the hot, humid NC weather has not been to cooperative. I compromised today by setting the tent up in the living room and letting them "Camp-In". Playing games in the tent...
They got their fun of sleeping in the tent, and Dave and I got to sleep in our comfy bed...now that's my kind of camping!! We promised them we would do a real camp out soon enough!

Father's Day

Some Father's Day memories... The kids made Dave cards, I took them to Crazy Glaze to paint him coffee mugs and we made this cute picture for him. The World's Best Dad with the World's Best Kids!! I can't wait to see more kids in this picture and how blessed they will be to have him as their Daddy!!
After church, we had family over for lunch and had some fun in the pool. It was a HOT weekend!!
And we played a few vicious games of water volleyball...even a round of boys vs. girls in which the boys declared they would "slam" us but we held our own and only lost by one point! I small a rematch coming on soon!

Yard Sale Treasures...

Another random post... We've been having fun yard-saling as a family this summer, everyone likes getting up super early to see what treasures we can find!! Even the kids love it... I've found some great things for around the house in the past few weeks and you want to see, right??? :)

Love this "faith" frame for 25 cents! We've been clinging to this verse a lot lately on this adoption journey and I was tickled to find it on a frame. It has a perfect spot on my desk.

Basket for bath goodies...25 cents... Neat curtain hold backs for the curtains in our master bath...brand new in the package for 50 cents!
I had been wanting one of these stars for a spot on our garage...I found this one black and rusted for 50 cents! A little spray paint fixes anything!!
Set of 3 Pottery Barn frames for the baby's room...they have spots for their hand prints at newborn, six months, and one year old. I splurged and paid $ 2 for the set of three because I REALLY wanted them!!
I've found lots of neat things for my new "music/fun room"... I turned this $ 1 black metal planter into a cute magazine/book basket.
Tin sign for the fun room...$1
Another frame for the red room...this one was 25 cents...I decided to put some of my favorite old pictures of the kiddos in it. Look how little they are!!!
More frames for the red room...the lady that sold me the pottery barn frames for the nursery gave me these with them...she said I could have them since they were just "junk" frames...whatever?!?! What is one man's junk is another man's treasure!!
Last, but not least...one of my favorite finds...I've always wanted something to fill this giant space when you walk down the stairs...found this last week for one dollar!!!

Hydrangeas & Blueberries...

So my hubby has the day off yesterday and we head out to pick some blueberries. I have been asking for a hydrangea bush for the front yard for a while now, so on the way to the blueberry patch we stop at the nursery to look at the hydrangeas. Look at what we saw at the nursery...Yes, that is a peacock...wandering around a random nursery...the kids were so excited, they had never seen one before. We kept trying to get it to spread its plumes, but it wouldn't cooperate...who needs the zoo when you can see stuff like this at the nursery??

Now for some blueberry picking, they bushes are just getting ripe so we just got a few pounds to start...but you get about 1 pound for around what a 1/4 lb costs in the grocery store!!
Okay, back to the hydrangea story...we come home and are trying to decide where to plant it. Dave has never liked the bushes the builder put in the front of our house...here is what it used to look like...
Now it looks like this!!! We worked out there all afternoon and made this awesome rock garden waterfall!! We love it!! Best part was we found all the rocks around the house and he had spare parts in the garage, so it was FREE!!
My hubby ROCKS!! I know, that was corny...I couldn't resist!!

What have we been up to???

Absolutely NOTHING!!! Not much exciting, that is...

We took the kids to the Lego store grand opening to help build an 8ft tall Lego Yoda (along with every other child in North Carolina)!!! It was crowded!!!
Enjoying breakfast on the deck....some days Emily is a morning person...some days she is not...on this particular day clearly she was NOT!!
Homemade ice cream sandwiches after a swim...
Indoor s'mores...thanks to a thunderstorm (wow, that picture is dark, sorry!!)
Strawberry picking season has officially ended. We went and picked 15 more pounds to last through the summer. Tomorrow, we're going blueberry picking!!
