Dave's Crazy Idea!!

Last night my sweet hubby went a little crazy!! I guess after 13 years of marriage my love for home projects, organizing, room re-arrangement, and renovation has finally worn off on him. I was out yesterday picking up the rest of our curriculum and supplies for the upcoming school year, I bought some new maps for a geography class and asked "Honey, where should I hang these maps?" He replied that I didn't have a lot of wall space in our current school area and got a crazy idea that we should switch around the office and the school room!

Here is the old school area...
and the office on the other side of the room...
Now here is my new school room (where the old office used to be). I love it!! He was right I do have so much more space!!

And here is the office (where the school area used to be)...
I found these cute frames 90% off at Target for 59 cents! I bought them thinking I would do something fun on the mantle next summer but then I got the idea to frame some of our favorite verses in them and hang them over the desk.
Yes, I was a little scared when my hubby got this crazy idea, as it exactly the kind of thing I would get myself into and it was all his idea and of course I went along with it! I kept teasing him that the "adoptive dad nesting" bug has now bitten him too! We could be dangerous if we keep this up!!

Paddleboating!

Since we don't have any summer vacation plans before heading back to school we let the kids make a "summer fun wish list" of low-cost things they would like to do this summer. This week they we checked paddleboating off the list! It's so much fun and a great leg workout!!
The water level was really high with all the rain we have had lately, we went under this bridge and had to practically lay down to not hit our heads on it!

Another project!!

In the attempt of trying to keep my sanity while still waiting for this baby I decided to wrap myself in another one of my crazy projects this week! I love having the summer off from school, but that means more free time and when you have been nesting like a crazy pregnant woman for what seems like forever there are only so many times you can clean out and organize the same closets!! Here is my latest crazy, hair-brained scheme!! This is a picture of how our deck furniture looked 3 years ago when it was nearly new! After lots of use the wood was very faded and looking pathetic and the umbrella had broken and was held together by a piece of string! I have been on a quest this summer to find a new umbrella, something that was not so gigantic and with a crank (after 3 years of fighting the rope and pulley on the old umbrella I was determined the new one would crank)...and of course would have to be a good price! I scored a great deal on this perfect umbrella at Big Lots this week for 50% off! Well, I decided the pretty new umbrella with its shiny white pole would look beautiful on white furniture (not brown), so I decided to spray paint the table and chairs white...no one told me that cedar wood would suck up paint like a sponge, so after 22 cans of white spray paint this was my finished product!! Thank goodness it is only 96 cents a can at Walmart!! I did feel like a fool going back 4 times, each time buying 5 or 6 cans and thinking surely this will be enough!!
I discovered that even though the frame of the umbrella was broken the inside of the fabric that had not been faded from 3 years of sun still looked pretty good and cut it apart to make seat cushions!
Last but not least, I made these cute candles with 25 cent mason jars, sand from the kiddos sandbox, and scraps of umbrella fabric. They took 2 minutes to make and may be my favorite part of the whole project and they did not require 2 full days of painting and some serious trigger finger!

13 years...

13 years ago today I married my best friend!! I am thankful daily for this man God has blessed me with to be my husband and father to my children. I am so excited at where the last 13 years have taken us and for what the next 13 years have in store for our family. I'm thankful to be right here, right now, where God has placed us with our 2 amazing children and eagerly waiting meeting our next little one(s). God is always GOOD and always FAITHFUL!!

Wii Fun!!!

The kids have been saving and pooling their money together for a few weeks to buy themselves a Wii. Uncle Jeff gave them a great deal and sold them his that he never played for a super price! We've been having fun tonight bowling, boxing, golfing, and playing tennis & baseball! We're getting some pretty good exercise too!!

"All Better"

Princess is recovering nicely from her dog attack. She got her stitches out over the weekend and is now free from the cone collar. After her last vet visit we rewarded her with a trip to Sonic and her very first hamburger. She enjoyed it very much!! Yes, we know she is spoiled, but what do you expect for a dog you named Princess?!?!

Cow Appreciation Day!!!

We're big fans of Chick-fil-A around here and look forward to annual "Cow Appreciation Day" every year! Dress like a cow and get a FREE meal!! The kids were excited for for their free dinner!! They even talked their Daddy into donning some spots too!! Isn't it funny what frugal people will do for free food?!?!

Bad Night...

It was a rough night last night...we were out for our usual nightly walk with the dog when a neighbor's dog came running into the street and attacked our Princess biting her badly in 3 places. We spent 5 hours at the veterinary hospital and came home with drains, stitches, a cone collar, and a unexpected large vet bill!! Please pray for a speedy and healthy recovery for her. Also, please pray for Nathan & Emily, they are a little shaken up after seeing the incident and are worried about their puppy.

Happy 4th (part 2)!!!

Happy 4th of July!! After seeing the symphony and fireworks Friday night it was nice to spend the day at home. We played some baseball, went swimming and grilled some burgers for dinner. Emily helped me set a star spangled table and make some patriotic parfaits for dessert!
After dinner and baths, Mom and Dad came over for some dessert and sparkler fun!!

Happy 4th!!

We celebrated the 4th of July a day early last night at Lake Benson. We spent the evening with my Mom & Dad enjoying the North Carolina Symphony and some great fireworks! Lots of Fun!!
