The kids had choir at church tonight, when they came out Nathan handed me a piece of paper, they had been asked to write down the things that were blessings in their lives. Here is what he wrote, it made me cry right there in the church hallway...
"A Mom and a Dad that love me and care for me, my sister, a home and food, a bed to sleep in, my adopted brother or sister I don't know when we are going to get it, but I still love it even though I don't know where it is right now."

Still sick...and "soon"...
After several days of this nagging cough and fever my "Mom Instinct" told me that maybe Nathan should visit the doctor today...it turns out he has not been fighting the flu, but bronchitis. They put him on an antibiotic so hopefully he will be as good as new soon! Thanks for praying for him!
I spoke with our adoption agency the other day just to get an update on what is going on... (aka... When will we get our baby?!?!), they said they are curently working with several birthmothers and things will happen "soon". Can anyone tell me what the definition of "soon" is????

Flu Fighting!
We've been stuck in the house this week with a sick kiddo! Poor Nathan has been fighting the flu...fever, coughing, achy, etc..not good. He's had to miss out on all his favorite things this week, choir, SEEK, soccer practice, and was exceptionally disappointed that today was his last soccer game of the season and he wasn't able to play. Please pray he feels better soon and the rest of us stay healthy!

A Day at the Fair...
We spent the day at the North Carolina State Fair, it is such a fun day and we look forward to it every year! There is so much to see and do...lots of walking and a great tiring day!

It was a super day and I am proud to say... we saw, but DID NOT eat any of the following deep fried foods... cheesecake, oreos, pecan pie, twinkies, snickers bar, pickles, or mac-n-cheese. Yes, they deep fry and sell all of those items!! We did, however splurge and eat ham biscuits and a funnel cake! It just wouldn't have been fair day without those items!
Emily's most favorite thing every year is the exhibit where you can hold and pet the baby chicks and ducks. She would stay there all day if we would let her!
I love looking at all the things people create to enter in the fair. These cakes were just amazing!
Our kids are pretty frugal when it comes to spending their money at the fair, they are wise to the games that cost $ 2 to play only to win a 25 cent toy... although they did each spend 50 cents of their money to see the World's Smallest Horse! It really was a teeny-tiny horse...no bigger than our dog!
We took in a "Michelle's Magnificent Poodles" show...again Em would have stayed all day playing with these poodles!

Field Trip Fun!
We took a field trip today to the Museum of Life & Science in Durham today. It was our first time to visit there and we really enjoyed it. Lots of interesting indoor & outdoor exhibits!
One of our favorites was definitely the Butterfly House! It is a natural, tropical climate conservatory with hundreds of butterfly species fluttering about, landing on you if they wish!

The farmyard section featured goats, lambs, sheep, etc... it kind of felt like a zoo trip for a few minutes!

Poison Dart Frogs... we were commenting how much they looked like plastic toys. Thank goodness we don't have them around here or we would pick them up and play with them!
These huge, nasty looking bugs are considered a tasty treat in South America!
These simulate the motion of a bird in flight.
It was a great day! Long drive home... back to school tomorrow!!
